‘African Violet’ by Iranian female director Mona ZandiHaghighi has unveiled a second official poster in conjunction with its national and international theatrical release.
The second poster is also designed by Iranian graphic artist Behzad Khorshidi, featuring the only female lead role Fatemeh Motamed-Arya,
Saeed Aqakhani and Reza Babak are also among the cast members of the flick.
‘African Violet’ has recently kicked off global and domestic screenings. The movie is available to Iranian cinephiles through VOD (Video On Demand) platforms while people in Canada and the US will be able to watch Haghighi’s latest drama on silver screens.
Produced by Alireza Shoja-Nouri, ‘African Violet’ has been internationally distributed by the Venera Films, a US-based film distribution company, and the France-based DreamLab Films.
‘African Violet’ follows the story of a middle-aged woman named Shokouh whose ex-husband, Fereydoun, is placed in a nursing home by their children. She, and her second husband Reza, decide to take care of Fereydoun in their own home. With the arrival of Fereydoun, some unexpected changes take place in the lives of all three characters.
The 93-minute film is the recipient of some accolades, including the High School Award and the Audience Award at the 25th Vesoul Int’l Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France and the Special Jury Award at the 6th Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon.
‘African Violet’ also took part in the 37th Fajr Film Festival held in Iran and succeeded to win two nominations for Best Film Score (Peyman Yazdanian) and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Fatemeh Motamed-Arya).
